Manor House provides its guests with the unique opportunity to experience life in a traditional Walauwa (pronounced WAAL-OW-WAH), a traditional stately home dating back to the colonial era. Manor House, previously known as Nugawela Walauwa, was built in 1884 and belonged to the Nugawela family, members of the Kandyan aristocracy. The head of the Nugawela family served as Adigar, the King's Chief Minister, and was knighted by the British Empire.
This 14,000 square foot home has been beautifully restored with ten elegantly appointed rooms, each with a unique style and layout, a beautifully landscaped garden, an Ayurvedic wellness center and a swimming pool. A lot of care has been taken to update the home with modern amenities and services but still retain the integrity of the Walauwa style of architecture and interior design. The place has a charming and relaxed ambience.
Our management and staff pride themselves on the welcome, hospitality and personalized service extended to each guest. We will strive to deliver the utmost in comfort and service to you, our welcomed guest.
