Upon your arrival to the sunny island of Sri Lanka, you will be traditionally welcomed with a garland of flowers, which is just a taste of the royal treatment you will receive in the days to come. From the airport and throughout the tour, you will travel in complete comfort to your various destinations in an air conditioned vehicle. Should any questions arise at any point during these journeys, feel free to converse with your driver, who will be fluent in English.

Getting Started – Colombo & Kithulgala

�

Day 1 & Day 2

The tour first takes you right into the heart of Colombo, the country's capital. Here you will be staying in the Grand Oriental Hotel. Not only is this hotel's location

completely convenient to the World Trade Centre, Government offices, Banks, Airline offices and Shopping malls, but it also treats you t o a little piece of local history, being one of the oldest hotels in Colombo - established in 1837! These first couple days of the tour allow you to be apart of the hustle and bustle of our city life.

A complimentary city tour of Colombo is available on day 2.

Day 3

From Colombo you will be transported to your next destination, which is just over 2 hours away. In Kithulgala, a sleepy spot located between the famous west coast and the towering central highlands of Sri Lanka, you will be staying at the Plantation Hotel. In direct contrast to your quiet, picturesque surrounding, the planned activity for this day is anything but tame! You will face the rapids of the Kelani River when negotiating your way downstream in a white water raft. No doubt a memorable experience.

Some History & Culture – Kandy & Sigiriya

Day 4

So you can catch your breath, today's events will be a little less wild. You will be chauffeured from Kithulgala to Kandy, the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. The ancient capital city of Sri Lanka’s last generation of kings before it fell to the hands of British in 1815. It is also home to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, which is said to house the canine tooth of Buddha himself. Central to Buddhist belief, the temple welcomes the many who flock to worship through offerings, ceremonies and rituals. On Day 4 you will get the opportunity to visit this temple, as well as the Royal Botanical Gardens which exhibit Sri Lanka's rich botanical heritage.

Day 5

Today you will be taken on a day excursion from Kandy to Sigirya, another area in which Sri Lankan culture is deeply rooted. Here you will climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, often acknowledged as the Eight Wonder of the World. It was created by King Kasyapa who reigned between 477-495 AD. The summit of this almost inaccessible rock is 180 m (600 ft) above the surrounding jungle, and was the setting for a courtly paradise of elegant pavilions, gardens and pools. It is an easy climb, and the panoramic view from the top makes any effort well worth it. You will then be transported back to your hotel.

Your two night stay in Kandy will be spent staying at Thilanka Hotel, ranked in the top ten of hotels in this area and notorious for its delicious food.

Jumbo Experience – Pinnawalla

Day 6

Will find you on the way to visit Pinnawalla Elephant Orphanage, which is the first of its kind in the world. The Elephant Orphanage is a unique place where abandoned or disabled elephants receive attention and care, allowing you to witness heart warming sights of elephants being bottle fed and bathed. Once you have finished your visit, you will then be taken to Negombo where you will spend your last two nights in Blue Oceanic Hotel.

Pinnawalla:
Started in 1972 the Elephant Orphanage was relocated to at the present site in 1975 Bathing time at Ma Oya just in front of the orphanage is sharp at 10.00am and 2.00pm. Feeding time is about and hour earlier.

Ocean calling – Negombo

Day 7

will be spent in Negombo, chosen for its close proximity to the airport. It is also a popular tourist spot due to its beautiful beaches. You can use this day to relax, recuperate, and recharge as there is no place better suited.

Day 8

Once you have gotten a chance to rest, you

will be conveyed from your hotel directly to the Bandaranaike International Airport, where you will embark on the last leg of what was hopefully a memorable journey
