Kahanda Kanda was built as a private home and has now opened
as an exclusive boutique hotel, with 5 separate air conditioned suites,
offering some of the most breathtaking views on the island. Situated on
a hilltop overlooking Koggala Lake and surrounded by the tea estate, Kahanda
Kanda provides the discerning traveller a very unique place to stay inland,
whilst still within easy reach of some truly beautiful beaches.
With its Zen like peacefulness and high level service and
exquisite fusion cuisine, it is the perfect environment for a holiday of

of the villa consists of three detached rooms running adjacent to the
wall - first is The Peacock Suite and then the Living Pavilion. On each
side of the huge airy Living Pavilion are Lily Ponds, over which you
step to reach the Dining Pavilion.
Beyond the Dining Pavilion is the infinity edged pool, 20 metres in
length and looking cool and inviting, with its dark green polished cement
sides. Beside the pool is a recessed area, shaded by white bougainvillea,
where breakfast or dinner may be taken.
Glimpsed beyond the Saffron Wall are Tamarind Suite and Mango Suite,
whilst Tea and Garden Suites lay beyond the pool, surrounded by lush
This stunning bedroom suite has everything you could possibly want. With
sensational views, crisp bed linen and fluffy towels, and two bathrooms,
it bears all the hallmarks of unadulterated luxury.
There are wide sweeping views over the Lake and the tea estate, a private
courtyard garden filled with highly scented gardenia bushes and frangipani
trees, two bathrooms with outdoor showers, and the room is decorated with
the signature theme of black and white.
The large ebony four-poster bed stands proudly in the centre of the room,
affording the occupant the incredible views outside.

With a choice of places to sit and relax, from the wide banquette at
the foot of the bed, to the bench and chairs on the verandah, there is
no reason not to feel totally chilled.

This elegant suite has a large wooden four-poster bed, draped with a
mosquito net, from where you get a stunning view over the tea.
The room is decorated with a mixture of contemporary furniture manufactured
in Sri Lanka, along with some antique Oriental pieces, including some
fine rice paper paintings.

Overlooking the tea is a wide verandah, with a deep antique Balinese
bench - the perfect place to sit and relax, listening to the sounds of
the jungle beyond.
This being the original building, there are high lofty ceilings helping
to keep the rooms cool, even when it is hot outside. This room has a
large double bed, antique furniture, and wide verandahs outside with
sofas and chairs, where you can sit and relax.
The spacious bathroom has two hand basins, and an outdoor shower, densely
planted with ginger lilies and palms to give that truly exotic feel.
Like The Garden Suite, this is in the original building, and so these
rooms are always beautifully cool.
